An organized purse: the Butler Bag

For the most part I have been writing this blog about organizing and decorating a space that you love and haven't given much thought about organizing "your person." I found a great product today on the "Unclutterer" website. It is called the "Butler bag." In short, it's a stylish bag with a built-in organizer for all of your things. No more digging around to find the keys, cell phone, lipstick. The average price is $125, but they look like nice, stylish purses and come in a variety of colors. This seems perfect especially for the professional woman but also for mom. Has Mother's Day already passed?? This would have been a great gift idea. The website is butlerbag.com. Entryway

Palmer Weiss of Palmer Weiss Interiors, San Francisco is a native of Charleston, SC and a friend from high school. She has definitely made a name for herself being selected by Domino magazine as one of the nation's up and coming interior designers as well as having an incredible spread in this month's Traditional Home magazine, including the front cover. Her combination of traditional and modern is so fun. I really like her idea of using a skirted table in an entryway--she says that she even has measured her husband's shoes to make sure they fit under it. What a great place to place bags and various other items to keep them out of the way and the entryway uncluttered!

Neat guest room

A friend of mine just re-did her guest room and I just love it. The color is fantastic, one of my favorites Palladian Blue by Benjamin Moore. The bed is one she slept in growing up, and the linens have been collected over time. The white coverlet is a vintage from her great grandmother, the floral coverlet is from her grandmother, and the striped shams and bed skirt are more modern and she got them from her mom's house when they downsized. I love the salon style collection of paintings to the left of the bed, and the antique bench on the other side of the room.

Old Village Home Tour

This past weekend my husband and I went on the home tour in the Old Village. This is one of my favorite events of the year. There are about ten homes and gardens on tour and each one is unique and breathtaking. You are able to see old homes that have been renovated and new homes that are built to look like old ones. This is the neighborhood where I grew up, so I am a bit biased but I think it is one of the prettiest neighborhoods I've ever seen. What amazes me about this area and this tour is that there are endless surprises to discover along the way--a pool behind a house that you never knew was there, a gorgeous garden, nd the views from the homes along the harbor (wow!). Unfortunately there were no pictures allowed in the homes :(, but I was able to take some outside. Enjoy! And, if you missed the tour this year, be sure to go next year. You will not be disappointed, and it makes for the perfect afternoon stroll.

Container Store Sale

Now is a great time for spring cleaning and organizing your home. To help, the Container Store has a huge sale going on--25% off of everything. I can't believe they don't have a store in Charleston!!!

Treasure hunting

I have decided to make regular posts about treasures I have found at local antiques markets. I tend to frequent the one that goes by that name "Antiques Market" in Mt. Pleasant because I can whiz through before picking up my kids from preschool. It is right down the street. Here are some things I found yesterday. You can see I have an affinity for trays--great for organizing or hanging as wall decor. The small mountain painting is awesome as is the print mounted in the lime green. Nothing pictures here costs more than $45. The blue and white tray and jar were only $16.99 a piece!

Desk

How much would you pay for this desk? $25? A friend of mine found this roll top desk at the Habitat for Humanity Re-store for a mere 25 bucks, coated it with a pretty silver sage paint color, and there you go. Amazing! It's the perfect desk for writing letters, paying bills, or for a kid to do his or her homework.
